Founded almost ten years ago, by superstar designer Marcel Wanders an CEO Casper Vissers, Dutch brand Moooi are one of those companies that simply refuse to play by the rule book, throwing out challenging – yet potentially iconic – pieces like they’re going out of fashion. From Front’s stupendous, life-sized horse lamp to Wanders’ own Monster Chair, there’s intelligence, quirkiness and desirability in everything they do. We were lucky enough to attend the opening week of their new London showroom at this year’s London Design Festival, and if you haven’t had the opportunity to get down yourself, these awe-inspiring photographs will show you just what you’re missing. Located in the fabulously opulent ‘White Building’ at the Portobello Dock development – where Tom Dixon’s HQ, new shop and the fabulous Dock Kitchen also reside – the showroom offers a unique window on the wickedly unique Moooi collection, and as Portobello Dock continues to develop its reputation for one of London’s design hotspots, it’s just another reason to drag yourself down for a suitably impressive bit of eye candy…
