“Yunnan Wenyuan” project is located at North of Guangfulu, East of Guanduguzhen, abut against Baoxiang River, near the New Yunnan Museum, Yunnan Arts and Culture Centre, with the total area of 119.65 acres. “Yunnan Wenyuan” is combined by four parts which including the Art Gallery, Literary Gallery, Artist Union and the College of Liberal art.
As a basic architectural unit, traditional courtyard house structure integrated thousand years of comprehending of minority live, climate and culture, appropriately reflected the Architectural transformation from the essentially society element of “Home”.
Not only that, this basic architecture unit follows a certain discipline, such as develop congregation, extension, amalgamation, development, slowly become village, town and city. If we look down from above, we could discover that the traditional courtyard house  structure is like many single cells randomly continuously combined together, perfectly interconnecting for the urban space network.
This congregated urban space comprised the basic human need and also connected with abounding of urban activities. Thus, to let the harmonious between City, Space, Human-being and nature becoming a wonderful art work
In this design, we are trying to utilize this connection between single unit and a whole, by integrating with the traditional courtyard house structure,  in order to accumulate the singular unit into a system.
The courtyard is complanated and also dimensional, it is virtual but also actual.
The four types of building Art Gallery, Literary Gallery, Artist Union and the College of Liberal art each have their own courtyard system , and also integrate into one system. The courtyard system is not only within the building but also extend to the landscape and the whole site.
We utilize this courtyard system to evolving from two-dimension to three-dimension, from extending the landscape to generate the design thought of the inner space. This is how we respect and perfectly extending the traditional urban space thinking, obtain the echo by extending the logic and controlling the urban fabric.

 “云南文苑”选址确定在与云南省博物馆新馆、云南艺术文化中心、云南艺术家园区相毗邻的广福路以北、官渡古镇以东、紧靠宝象河119.65亩地，包含艺术馆,文学馆,艺术家之家和文学院四部分组成。
作为基本建筑单元的合院式建筑类型融合了上千年以来，云南各族民众对生活，气候，和文化的理解，较为贴切的反映了对最基本社会单元“家”的建筑学的转换。
不但如此，这样的基本建筑单元遵循一定发展聚集，延伸，合并，发展，逐步演化成为聚落，乡镇，和城市。如果从空中鸟瞰这样的城市形态，可以发现合院式建筑如同一个个细胞一样有机的组合在一起，成为不间断的，相互关联的城市空间网络。
这样聚集起来的城市空间既包含了最基本的需求和诉求，也贯连起丰富的城市活动，这也许就是空间，人，城市，自然和谐共处的美妙画卷。
在云南文苑的设计中，我们试图挖掘这样的基本单元和整体之间的联系，通过对传统合院建筑进行演绎，使得单体发展聚集，成为有机的整体。
庭院是平面的也是空间的，是虚的也是实的。
艺术馆，文学馆，艺术家之家和文学院四组建筑各自通过庭院系统组织起来，同时在全局上又整合在一起成为一个相对完整的建筑群。这样的庭院系统又连续分布到场地的每个角落成为景观的一部分。在场地景观中庭院系统被抽象出来，大多变成二维的，可以供不同景观项目展示的场所。
这种通过一个庭院系统，从二维演化成三维空间，从景观延展到建筑内部空间的设计思路，是我们对传统城市空间无缝延伸的发展和尊重。在扩展的逻辑和肌理的控制上取得呼应。
