在CCDI很多文化建筑中，东莞这个项目比较淡出，从设计到实施也历经了多年折腾，至今尚未完工。但是从这个获得国际竞赛第一名的方案设计看，建筑师对大型公共场所的社会关怀、大坡道对于人群聚散的作用，起伏有致的建筑体量和景观策略，都可谓值得反复研究的佳作。

东莞市民艺术中心、工人文化宫位于东莞新城万江区坝头片区，该地块位于城市文化景观轴线的末端，北接滨江体育公园，其余三面为居住用地，四面临路，交通便利、景观优美。我们冀望在这个特殊的项目中重新唤起市民对场所的深厚情感，将市民艺术扎根于场所之中，让艺术中心和文化宫真正成为城市生活休闲的一部分。

根据项目特性，建筑被划分为三个体量，市民艺术中心、工人文化宫、综合剧院彼此相对独立。从而让市民与建筑的互动界面更加的丰富和开放。同时，用地南北靠近城市文化景观轴线的两端适合布置公共的集散广场，提供市民驻足观看的场所，也将成为建筑与城市之间的缓冲。建筑三个分区之间形成公共通道，易于辨识、使用高效。

南北两个主广场都提供足够的视距以满足驻足观看建筑群体的需求，并分别承担不同的功能，北侧广场服务于工人文化宫，与北侧体育公园彼此衔接，起到过渡缓冲的作用，整体含蓄而典雅。南侧广场服务于市民艺术中心，提供满足大型集会活动的场地，整体开阔而流畅。两个广场都提供了二层和三层户外的活动平台，使得市民能够从不同的高度去眺望城市，增强和周边地块的视觉互动。

建筑表面采用GRC外墙面，有效遮挡东西两侧的直接日照。我们为建筑立面设计了3种模数的开窗形式，形成丰富的立面肌理，同时为部分室内空间提供直接的采光窗口。建筑整体洁白而素雅，形体完整而具有雕塑感。配合外围高大乔木的围合场地及结合广场的草坪绿化，营造出阳春白雪般的诗情画意。当夜幕降临，建筑提供了3个面向城市主干道的展示面，集合高科技的声光设计，将动态的图像投影在建筑上，让灯光效果不再是静态的体验。相对于白天含蓄典雅的气质，夜晚的建筑将呈现出五彩梦幻的艺术风格。

Dongguan Citizens Art Center and Workers Culture Palace locate in Batou area, Wanjiang District, Dongguan, which is the end of urban culture landscape axis, north to Binjiang Sports Park, and the other three areas for residents facing roads all round, traffic convenient and landscape beautiful. With the hope to reawaken people’s profound feelings for the place, Citizens Art Center is designed in it so as to have Art Center and Culture Palace one part of urban leisure life.

According to the characteristics of the project, buildings are divided into three masses, Citizens Art Center, Workers Culture Palace and Complex Theater relatively independent from each other, thus make men-buildings interface more plentiful and open. At the same time, the north and south ends near urban cultural landscape axis are suitable to be public distribution square for providing the space of people’s stopping to watch, as well as the buffer between buildings and city. Public roads are formed among the three divisions, easy to identify and highly efficient.

Both north and south main squares provide enough horizons for the needs of stopping to watch buildings, and assume different functions. The north serves for Workers Culture Palace and plays transaction and buffer part by joining north Sports Park, wholly connotative and elegant. The south serves for Citizens Art Center and provides the space for large gatherings, wholly open and fluent. Both squares provide second-floor and third-floor outdoor activity platform, which make citizens overlook the city from different heights and enhance visual interactions with surroundings.

The buildings adopt GRC outer walls for their surface to effectively protect from direct sunlight from east or west. Three modulus of window opening form are designed for building elevation, with rich elevation texture, at the same time direct lighting windows are provided for some indoor space. The buildings are white, simple but elegant, with complete and sculptural structure, creating poetic illusion like white snow in a sunny spring through matching up with surround enclosure area of tall trees and lawn greening in square. When night falls, buildings provide the display panel of main roads directing to city and project dynamic pictures into buildings by using high-tech luminous and acoustic designs, which make lighting effects no longer static experience.The buildings in night present gorgeous and dreamlike art style comparing with daylight connotative and elegant disposition.
