To Interpret “Exception” in Another Way
---- the interior design of the fashion store
“Exception” is a local fashion brand in China. It was founded by the Chinese designer Ma Ke. Why do I select “Exception” as my design object? Because it is an exception of “Made in China”. The taste of “Exception” comes from the inner heart, independent of the trend. Just as Ma Ke said: “Design must be from the heart, must be sincere and true, it shows your personality.” It is one such “Exception”, true, pure, self-confident, perseverant and beautiful. When I encountered it for the first time, I was deeply moved by its power. In my mind, “Exception” is not only a fashion brand, but also is a culture, an art, an aesthetic life.
Firstly, considering its international influence and the nature of its customers, it is appropriate to locate it in the shopping center of “Village” in Sanlitun, Beijing. The “Exception” store selects one of the buildings facing the famous bar street in the east part of “Village”. Then I made three sketch models and one final model to explore the style, space, structure, layout, lighting and material of the store. During the whole process designing the “Exception” store, I tried to use a lot of different ways and means to create a special space, so that this space can only accommodate the “Exception” clothing, distribute the “Exception” taste, present the “Exception” look and show the “Exception” culture, making it a real exception of the fashion stores.
Ma Ke said: “Clothing is just a way and means of expression.”
The design of “Exception” store is to convey a cultural spirit, which is the source of all brilliant external forms.
